Wall cabinets are generally 12″ deep. Base cabinets are generally 24″ deep. Some models of wall or base cabinets may differ, but this will be called out for that cabinet in the catalog as well as on your quote. These depths are from the back of the cabinet to the front of the face frame and do not include the thickness of the door and drawer front. The toe kick space is 4″ high. Toe kick area: 2-15/16” high x 3-1/4” deep.
Our standard face frames include 3/4″ thick solid wood face frames with 1-1/2″ wide stiles and rails unless otherwise specified. Frames feature glued and screwed pocket joints. Custom front frame configurations are available. Paint grade face frames are poplar wood. Stain grade is per client preference, such as white oak, red oak, maple, alder, etc.
1/2″ thick birch plywood sides/tops/bottoms. If a finish is requested on cabinets, only the exterior exposed end will be finished to match cabinets.
Our cabinet backs are a ¼” thick birch plywood back, with a UV coated interior.
Interiors are finished in a clear UV acrylic topcoat on birch veneer plywood. The Birch veneer will exhibit light and dark patterning. This is a standard feature of interior-grade birch veneer and will not be considered defective.
Finished interiors, other than UV coated birch, are available in cabinets specified with the matching interior option. This is common when you can see the inside of the cabinet with glass door inserts.
Our standard cabinet doors are a 5-piece shaker style. Rails and stiles are 2-1/4” wd. Drawer fronts are also 5-piece, 2-1/4” rails and stiles. The tops drawer fronts include 2-1/4” stiles with 1-1/4” rails. The front exterior edge of all doors and drawer fronts include an eased edge.
Standard drawer boxes are 7/16” thick birch plywood with butt joints. An upgrade is available with a 9/16” solid or plywood maple sides and includes English dovetailed joinery. Each drawer box is fully assembled, including a topcoat sealer for extra protection.
Standard drawer glide is the undermount Blum’s Tandem (or equivalent) full extension model, featuring a soft-close feature, and 4-way fingertip adjustability.
There may be some instances where heavy-duty side-mount glides are required. Our standard heavy-duty side-mount is the Knape Vogt, full extension, soft-close with a 125 - 200lb capacity.
Overlay hinges are euro-style Blum (or equivalent) concealed cup hinges with integrated soft close. Inset hinges feature Blum’s concealed cup hinge and mounting bracket for simple adjustment of your inset doors.
Hinges are automatically supplied with your cabinets in the overlay of your choice. However, you can request that no hinges and/or hinge preparation can be provided with your cabinets/doors, which would then be supplied by the client. This is common where the customer may choose to use a style decorative hinge of choice.
Knobs and handles are NOT supplied, and no preparation is done to the doors for hardware. Customers must supply hardware. Kansas Cabinets will install per customer instructions.
Shelves are ½” thick birch plywood are standard, while an upgrade to 11/16” thick plywood or solid wood are available. All shelves include a ¾” x 1-1/4” hi solid wood bullnose. Shelves are adjustable in 32mm increments with 5mm shelf pins.
a. Delivery is typically included in our bid/contract, within 30 miles of the Kansas Cabinets LLC shop location in Olathe, Kansas.
b. Installation is included as in our standard bid/contract. Most installations are phased and provided by non-union skilled cabinet installers.

Paint: ML Campbell, High Performance Pre-Cat White Opaque Base is a high quality, non-yellowing, HAPSfree pre-catalyzed lacquer with ultra-low formaldehyde. High Performance Pre-Cat White/Opaque is a medium solid, fast drying formulation, and has exceptional resistance to water, solvents and household chemicals. High Performance Pre-Cat White/Opaque is a high quality pigmented coating with the latest in high-performance, long-lasting wood finish technology.
Performance: Ultra-low formaldehyde. Medium solids. Self-sealing. Excellent moisture and chemical resistance. Extremely durable.
Stain: Minwax® Wood Finish™ is a penetrating oil-based wood stain, which provides beautiful rich color that enhances the natural wood grain. It applies easily, absorbs deep into the pores of the wood, and is ideal for staining unfinished wood furniture, cabinets, doors, trim, molding, and hardwood floors.

Sealer: Minwax® Polycrylic™ Protective Finish. Protect interior wood projects like woodwork, furniture and more, and add natural beauty with Minwax Polycrylic Protective Finish. d. When included, the glass panel door inserts are 3/16” clear. Options are available upon request.
e. We use UV-coated plywood (referred to above) for interiors of cabinets. This plywood finish features a clear, durable top coating to add resistance to scrapes and chips, and the effects of solvent wipe down. UV coating is a compound that is applied to wet wood and then instantly dried by ultraviolet light.
f. Blocking: client should provide adequate wood blocking to ensure the proper installation of all cabinets.
Unless otherwise noted in the bid and/or contract documents, the following are considered standard exclusions from the cabinet package: appliances, medical vent hoods, sinks, faucets, crown moulding, base floor trim, countertops, backsplash, demolition, electrical, plumbing, HVAC (including vent covers), drywall, knobs/pulls, trash containers, roll-outs, bead board/wall paneling, finishes (paint/stain/sealer), blocking, sales tax, and cabinet lighting.
